Admissions to the B.Tech Programmes in 2019

        Attention: The Induction Program GE101 (part of B.Tech Curriculum), for newly admitted B.Tech students will be started from 25th July 2019 (Thursday). All have to attend the same. The details of the programme can be found here.


The following are the salient features of this year’s admissions

1.        The intake for this year is 233 [155 CSE (Gender Neutral 129, Female 26), 78 ECE (Gender Neutral 65, Female 13)].

2.        Admissions will be through JOSAA. Following the JOSAA rounds, there will be two special rounds conducted by CSAB (IIT allotment will not be included) and candidates will be allowed to remove choices they had given so that the allotment becomes more focussed.

3.        Following these rounds of admissions, if there are still vacant seats, then there will be a spot round of admissions conducted by the Institute. This will tentatively be on 10th August 2019. Candidate have to have a valid JEE score and they or their ward have to be physically present on the day of admission. Seats will be allotted as per JEE rank, and allotment will be finalised only on payment of the full semester fees on that day itself.

4.        There will be supernumerary seats for female candidates

5.        There are no fees concessions for SC and ST students.

6.        Institute Development Fee of ₹12,500 has been introduced.


Information for new B.Tech Students

Students will register as a part of the admission process as and when they arrive. If they arrive on a weekend, they may get a temporary room at the hostel and wait until Monday. For details about the admission procedure, click here. All fees have to be paid before registration.

Classes have already started. So students have to stay and cannot go back home after registration. Parents / Guardians may please leave as soon as possible. There will be no accommodation available for parents but they can stay in hotels near the airport or the railway station. Check the internet and our web site for more information on this. Students will have to procure their own mattress, bed sheets, pillows, blanket (from Nov), curtains, mosquito net, bucket, mug, etc. These can be purchased in Guwahati.

The campus is 4 km from the airport, and about 28 km from the railway station. You will have to take a taxi / auto to reach the campus. If you reach in the late evening or night, it may be better to find a place to stay in the city for the night and then to come to the campus the next morning.

Fees have to be paid through the SBI Portal (https://www.onlinesbi.com/sbicollect/icollecthome.htm). The fees to be paid at the Institute before registration (net after deducting what has been paid to JoSAA/CSAB) are as follows:

1.   CSAB Candidates:

a)      General and OBC Category: ₹64,000

b)      SC / ST / PwD Category: ₹1,04,000

2.   IIIT Guwahati Spot round candidates (if held): ₹1,34,000 (for all categories).
