IIIT Guwahati is an Institute of National Importance set up by an Act of Parliament. The Act authorises the Institute to offer degree programmes with the approval of their Board. UGC automatically recognises all degree programmes floated by IIIT Guwahati. IIIT Guwahati does not come under the purview of AICTE. AICTE therefore does not object to any degrees offered by Institutes of National Importance. The situation is the same for all IIITs under the Government, all NITs, and all IITs.





Introduction


The programs are designed to provide a wide-ranging education in theoretical as well as practical aspects of Communication, signal processing and VLSI domain, with respect to the current demands of communication and VLSI industries. Students will be provided in-depth knowledge of core subjects, but will have the flexibility to choose their subjects of interest from a diverse list of trending electives. The course is aimed to prepare the students for a rewarding career in their respective specializations both in academics as well as research and development industries so that they can contribute novel ideas towards the advancement of technologies.

  • A wide range of topics focusing on current industry trends and advancement in VLSI, Embedded Systems, Communication and Signal processing domain.
  • Several electives (5G & Beyond, Biomedical Signal Processing, Machine Learning, IoT, Robotics, VLSI for DSP, Pattern Recognition, Networked Dynamical Systems, etc.) to present interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
  • Well-equipped VLSI CAD Lab, Embedded System Lab, Communication Lab, DSP Lab, Robotics Lab and ample resources in computing equipments.
  • Full suite of EDA tools like, Ansys, Xilinx Vivado, SYNOPSYS, CADENCE, OrCAD along with MATLAB, LabVIEW and Network Simulation Software.
  • State-of-the-art FPGA and embedded hardware development kits (BASYS-3, Genesys 2, Zedboard etc.), HF Signal Generator and Vector Signal Analyzer.
  • Several hardware components for building prototypes: NI USRPs (MIMO capable), DSO, 5G mmWave frequency generator, directional antennas, reconfigurable meta surfaces, Fire bird VI mobile robots, robotic arm, LIDAR sensor etc.
  • Seminars for learning the art of literature survey and improving technical communication and presentation skills.
  • Year-long M.Tech Project in the following state-of-the-art domains at par with the academic and industry standards:
  • VLSI Design, Embedded systems, Robotics, Signal processing, Image processing, Communication, Microwave, Machine learning etc.

  • Complete placement assistance and guidance for higher studies.


  • If the situation due to COVID does not allow students to come to campus, then the following will be the learning process.

  • Use of Learning Management System to conduct interactive online classes, archiving lectures, assignments, online discussions, etc.
  • Lectures and labs will be conducted online according to the Time Table.
  • The examination will be conducted online via proctored mode.
