Welcome to the Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to IIIT Guwahati (established in 2013); an Institute of National Importance dedicated to excellence in technical education specifically in Information technology, cutting-edge research, and technological innovation. As a premier institution located in the vibrant gateway to Northeast India (very close to Guwahati airport), our mission is to nurture the next generation of technologists, leaders, and entrepreneurs who will drive the global knowledge economy forward. The institute was established under the IIIT(PPP) act of parliament.

A Dynamic Academic and Research Ecosystem

At IIIT Guwahati, we offer a rigorous academic curriculum deeply focused on Information Technology, Computer Science, and Electronics and Communication Engineering and related areas. We place tremendous emphasis on research and innovation. Our faculty and students are actively engaged in pioneering work across emerging domains such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Fog Computing, High-Performance Computing, VLSI Design and related areas. The institute boasts of 34 ongoing research projects from different funding agencies along with 6 consultancy projects.

With hosts of government-sponsored research projects from a variety of funding agencies underway, we encourage our students to think beyond the classroom. Our strong industry-academia collaborations ensure that our research translates into tangible solutions, giving students invaluable real-world exposure.

Advancing Knowledge through Postgraduate and Doctoral Programs

Recognizing the need for specialized expertise in today's tech-driven world, IIIT Guwahati provides robust postgraduate and research opportunities. We offer comprehensive M.Tech programs in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), which notably include a flexible online mode tailored specifically for working professionals. We are also starting MTech through online mode in near future.

Our Ph.D. program invites scholars to pursue rigorous research across disciplines including CSE, ECE, Mathematics, and Humanities & Social Sciences. We offer both regular, full-time research paths and part-time doctoral options to accommodate diverse academic and professional journeys. Our research scholars consistently contribute to high-impact journals and conferences, ensuring IIIT Guwahati remains at the forefront of global technological discourse.

State-of-the-Art Campus Facilities

Our permanent 67-acre campus in Bongora, conveniently located near the Guwahati International Airport, is designed to provide a holistic and enriching student experience. The institute boasts world-class infrastructure, including:

• A massive 9,200 sqm administrative and academic block.

• Fully Wi-Fi enabled premises supported by the high-speed National Knowledge Network (NKN) with 1Gbps intranet links.

• Advanced computational laboratories and dedicated hardware to support rigorous R&D activities.

• Comprehensive residential facilities, currently housing over 800 students in modern boys' and girls' hostels, ensuring a safe and vibrant campus life.

Excellence in Placements and Career Growth

We take immense pride in the professional success of our graduates. Our dedicated Training and Placement Cell works tirelessly to bridge the gap between academic preparation and industry readiness. The outstanding caliber of our students is reflected in our recent placement seasons, where we consistently achieve over 90% placement for eligible candidates.

Our students have secured exceptional opportunities at top-tier global firms like Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, Deloitte, and SAP Labs. Recently, our placements have seen a remarkable highest package of Rs. 59 LPA and an impressive average package of Rs. 17.38 LPA, a testament to the rigorous training and problem-solving skills instilled at IIITG. Furthermore, many of our alumni are pursuing higher studies at prestigious international institutions, including Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Texas at Austin.
