The VLSI & CAD lab hosts several cutting edge software tools which are used as platforms for analog and digital VLSI
circuit design.
Cadence EDA tool helps the student design and simulate complex analog circuits and follow the complete VLSI design flow
till GDS II file formation through custom layout of a circuit. The students use 180 nm CMOS process provided by SCL
Chandigarh
The lab has Xilinx Vivado Suite and Synopsys EDA tool for FPGA and ASIC design, respectively, for digital VLSI circuits.
The lab also has Basys-3, Zed board and Genesys 2 FPGA development board for rapid prototyping of the digital circuits.
In the undergraduate curriculum, students are taught the full digital design flow from the gate level design to the
on-chip testing of the circuits by downloading them in the Basys-3 board. The lab also has several PMOD interfaces so
that the students can design FPGA based systems on their own.
The Lab has ORCAD PCB design bundle for designing custom made PCB for system level design.
The UG and PG students are encouraged to undergo projects using the aforementioned tools and hardware so that they
become conversant with the industry standard in digital and analog VLSI design, test and application.
